A new year

Happy new year! I am excited to launch this new version of thomascabaniss.com. It's leaner and more concise, and I hope that will make it a friendlier place for visitors. Welcome.

This is the first time since 2004 that I've refashioned my website. When I began it, I was in the process of leaving my job at the New York Philharmonic, searching for new composing and educational projects. The old version served as a home base for my music during that time. I am hoping that this new iteration will be an even more integral part of my work as composer and teaching artist. The blog I am beginning today will be a part of that effort.

Much of the beginning of the year 2016 will be consumed with work on The Somewhere Project at Carnegie Hall. To learn more about it, read the Winter issue of CHAMBER MUSIC magazine. In it, on page 25 you will find my regular column called The Teaching Artist, which features a discussion of creative learning projects, and how they can serve to bring the work of teaching artists into the public eye.
